Meet The Coop Collective Team

Peter Chalmers, Co-Founder

Pete hails from the prairies of Minnesota and now raises his family in California. With deep farming roots spanning generations in both Minnesota and Oregon, Pete combines his heritage with a background in product development, having launched award-winning consumer goods for major U.S. brands and earned multiple patents. His passion for sustainable agriculture led him to start Coop Collective as a way to support healthier, more productive backyard poultry flocks through innovation and education. Pete believes everyone has a story worth hearing and that the best ideas often come from everyday farmers and homesteaders and urban backyard farmers.

Michael Hunt, Co-Founder (photo coming soon)

Mike is a co-founder of LifeLamp - providing ethical lighting solutions to organic and free-range egg producers across the country and a seasoned backyard chicken raiser with over 20 years of hands-on experience. Originally from Long Island, New York, he eventually found his way west, now splitting time between Montana and Wyoming on a hobby ranch he runs with his wife Christine. There, they raise chickens, ducks, quail, and his nubian dairy goats, embracing a self-sufficient, land-connected lifestyle. Mike’s lifelong curiosity and practical knowledge of animal care fuel his commitment to advancing sustainable, science-backed solutions for small-scale farmers and backyard enthusiasts alike.
