Install Instructions for COOP INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR INSTALL (With Open Door BEFORE SUNRISE):
- Follow the above install instructions 1-4
- A chicken coop for 6 medium-sized chickens should be at least 18 square feet on the inside. If you plan to have around 12-25 chickens, a coop will need to be anywhere from 50 to 100 square feet. Most coop designs typically have a width of 4-6 feet and the length varies depending on the number of chickens/hens being housed. For smaller houses, the dimensions might be 4'x5', while the next size up could be 5'x10' and the next size up after that might be 5'x20'. Regardless of the size, it is recommended to install the Solaye light line along the length of the coop, right down the middle. The Solaye light line is 5 meters long, which is equivalent to 16.5 feet, so it can cover any house up to 20' in length. For a 20-foot-long house, you would leave 2' open on either end of the length of the house, with the light line centered in the middle 16' portion, as shown in the images below. However, if your house/coop is wider than 7 feet, like a 10'x10' coop for example, it is advisable to run the SOLAYE light line down the diagonal of the house, as shown in the illustration below.
- If you are installing both inside and outside the coop (including the run) because your door opens before sunrise, after you follow the above instructions 1-4, simply run the light line through the house house and out into the run area. It is important to light up the area in the run that is over the feed and water areas. If you have enough SOLAYE light line, you may also choose to light the entire run, but it is not necessary.
- Any excess SOLAYE light line can simply be trimmed off and seal the open end with silicone.
- Plug in the SOLAYE Lighting System using the Coop Collective extension cord or your own outdoor extension cord and switch the power toggle on the patent pending "Sunsync" Controller Box to "Auto Mode". This will allow the SOLAYE Lighting System to create an optimal egg laying environment for your chickens throughout the year.
You can relax as there is no need to worry about any programming for the lighting. The “SunSync” lighting controller will track the sun's movement and regularly adjust the sunrise time, ensuring that your lovely hens receive a full 9 hours of beauty sleep every single night. And as a bonus, they will experience a gentle 30-minute sunrise each day, with the lighting gradually increasing in intensity to replicate the natural beauty and wonder of a sunrise.
